Q
How can my child improve problem-solving skills?
A
Strong problem-solving skills come from recognising question patterns and applying the correct solving methods, not memorising answers.
- Practise questions by Concept, not just by Topic.
- Learn to identify the Relationship, Technique, Problem-Solving Concept and Find One Unit method used in each question.
- Study the written solutions and Video Explanations to understand why each method works.
- Use Generate New to practise applying the same method to different question variations.
- Encourage your child to explain the solving method aloud before writing the solution.
- Attempt PSLE Look-Alike Questions by Topic in the iSchool Academy to apply the method to exam-style questions.
- Focus on recognising patterns and choosing the correct strategy rather than memorising answers.
